Civil Aviation Medical Examiners (CAMEs)

Overview

Civil Aviation Medical Examiners (CAMEs) are medical practitioners designated by the Curaçao Civil Aviation Authority (CCAA) to conduct aeromedical examinations for applicants and holders of aviation personnel licences.

CAMEs conduct medical examinations in accordance with the applicable Civil Aviation Regulations and ICAO Standards and Recommended Practices (SARPs) to determine an applicant’s medical fitness for exercising the privileges of an aviation licence.

Who Requires an Aviation Medical Examination?

Applicants and licence holders requiring an aviation medical certificate include:

• Airline Transport Pilot Licence (ATPL)
• Commercial Pilot Licence (CPL)
• Private Pilot Licence (PPL)
• Air Traffic Controller Licence (ATCO)

Responsibilities of a Civil Aviation Medical Examiner

A CAME is responsible for:

• Conducting aviation medical examinations in accordance with applicable medical standards.
• Assessing an applicant’s medical fitness for aviation duties.
• Completing and submitting the required medical reports to the CCAA, where applicable.
• Maintaining the confidentiality of medical information.
• Referring applicants to the CCAA for further assessment when additional medical evaluation is required.

Applicants are required to provide complete and accurate medical information to their Civil Aviation Medical Examiner (CAME). Any false declaration made in connection with an aviation medical examination will be reported to the Curaçao Civil Aviation Authority and may result in revocation of the applicant’s medical certificate.
